Malaysia Flag Football Association

About

MALAYSIAN Flag Football Association (MAFFA) was created for everyone who love the sport of American Football to be able to learn and play with others that share similar interest in the game here in Malaysia.

MAFFA was established in 2004 and the list of events we have organised or participated thus far are as follows:

1. The Malaysian Flag Football League (MFFL)

2. Invitational Tournaments – Tour of Singapore (2005, 2008), Phillipines (2007), MAFFA 1-Day Tournament (2008), MAFFA International Flag Football Tournament (2008)

3. Weekly scrimmages & clinics (Setiawangsa, KL, Subang, PJ & Gombak)

4. Official Demos & Media Air Time – Bernama TV News (2008/9), STAR Newspaper (2008), NTV7 “The Morning Show” & MCKK Old Boys Weekend (2007)

5. Gatherings such as Super Bowl Party & BBQ

MAFFA members are a very diverse group consisting of US graduates, UK graduates, Local universities’ alums and students, expatriates, professionals and even college, secondary and primary school students.

As mentioned earlier, we play the sport of American Football, but instead of playing the tackle version, defensive players pull flags worn around the waist of offensive players to signify the act of tackling. Flag Football still follows most of the rules that the full tackle America Football uses, but with some minor modifications to maintain it as a competitive but yet safe recreational sport.

We welcome everyone who has interest in the sport to join us in any of our activities as we are trying to expand the sport to the entire country. For us, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to play the game and know nothing about it, but as long as you have the enthusiasm and an open mind, we are more than willing to help you to learn this game.

We are also working closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to endorse Flag Football in Malaysia and also with the International Flag Football Federation (IFFF) as an official sanctioned sport.
